What a plug letter can and cannot tell you

The A–O letters are a traveler-friendly family index. Actual connections depend on the male plug variant, wall socket variant, current rating, polarity and protective-earth path. Type C Europlug is ungrounded; E/F hybrid plugs are a different grounded design. Type D and M should not be forced into one another, and Type L and N have important current-rated variants. Open a type page for its reference variant table and directional fit examples, then confirm the actual product and outlet.

How to use these pages

For grounded equipment, inspect the exact plug, adapter and wall socket. A matching letter or two round pins alone is insufficient.
